Why aren't you seeing it yet? I told you to go.
This movie is 3000 metric tons of kick ass. It's also way better than a movie about giant-robot-smash has to be. Plus Idris Elba. And directed by the Guillermo del Toro who also directed the Hellboy movies.
Go see!
Wednesday night in IMAX 3D, baby!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, but also dumb and really predictable.
ReplyDeleteThere's just no pleasing some people...
DeleteIt's OK to use the standard tropes so long as you execute it well. 90% of movies are fairly predictable if you pay attention at all to story structure. Yeah, I knew how the final fight was going to go down by about the third piece of foreshadowing, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
And I wouldn't call it dumb. Transformers was dumb. Battleship was dumb. This movie had something that dumb movies don't. A real passion and enthusiasm for the genres it's sourced from.
There's more to like about this movie than not.
That's funny. 'Just can't please some people'. That's a theme there. I LOVED it also. I want to see our again even. Maybe that makes me a nerd for giant robots but I did enjoy the action and the story.
DeleteI wish the final fight scene would have been a little longer tho..
I said it was fun. But it's not going to be any sort of classic.
DeleteWait, it's not Primer? Screw that then, how am I supposed to enjoy giant robots punching giant monsters if I don't have to take notes?
ReplyDeleteI dunno. I'm not so big on action flicks.
ReplyDeletenow if I could catch Sharknado in IMAX 3-D....
